FTA007 TV and Short Video Production:
The module is 2.5 credits with 6 two-hour classes. TAs should attend classes in weeks 2-5 to learn about the module content. TAs will assist the lecturer in taking attendance and will accompany teachers during some tutoring appointments to gain experience in tutoring students. If the TAs have experience in video production, they can also participate in delivering lecture content. TAs will also gain experience in module management with training on how to use the Learning Mall System. Students will be trained on how to mark the assessment and will be allocated a small percentage of the assessments to mark. The assessment for the module is a short video.
TAs will gain experience in several key areas of teaching, which will help their CV stand out when applying for faculty positions after their PhD.? The module leader is a senior staff member with several years of experience in mentoring TAs and aims for the TAs to enjoy their role, learn a lot of skills, and gain an understanding of how to quantify their experiences for discussions in later job interviews.
The position is looking for two PGR students, PhD candidates in any year 1-4. Experience in the area of video production is a benefit, but not a requirement.? TAs that are not familiar with video production will benefit greatly through their attendance of the lectures that teach shot video production.
The TA work plan is for 50 hours this semester per TA. The hours listed below would change if the TAs would like to deliver some of the teaching in the form of part of a lecture on video production and storytelling, as this is not accounted for in the plan below.
TA training for the module in teaching week 1: 2 hours
Learning Mall and administrative duties training: 3 hours
Learning Mall support and module administrative duties: 5 hours
Module attendance for teaching weeks 2-5 @ 2 hours per lecture: 8 hours

The aim of this module delivered in the first semester of Year 1 is to enable students to engage with the subject matter of the TV Production programme offered by the School of Film and Television Arts and to stimulate their interest in expressing themselves creatively. Students will gain fundamental knowledge of TV and short video formats and programmes and the basic skills of short video production with mobile phones.

Educational Development Unit – Staff Development and Student Training Programmes
We are currently seeking motivated and detail-oriented TAs for our Educational Development Unit at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. The TA positions are open for all qualified interested graduate students (Masters and PhD students) on campus of XJTLU or other graduates in Suzhou. LIF001 Research-led and Project-based Learning Module – Master Teaching Assistant
LIF001 is a core undergraduate module at XJTLU, designed for nearly 5,000 first-year students. It emphasizes interest-driven, project-based, and research-led learning, with students working in teams to explore real-world problems and develop research-informed solutions. We are seeking responsible and motivated Master-level Teaching Assistants to support the delivery and operation of this module. Master TAs will assist with class activities, tutorial sessions, project supervision, and course content maintenance. You will also play a key role in supporting students’ learning progress, managing module platforms, and assisting with the implementation of teaching strategies under the guidance of LIFE instructors.
Responsibilities
- Lecture and Tutorial Support: Assist in in-class delivery and tutorial facilitation, including managing classroom logistics, preparing materials, and helping demonstrate tools or concepts.
- Student Project Assistance: Supervise and support multiple student project groups, helping them navigate challenges in research question development, teamwork, and project design.

TA training:
The XJTLU Graduate School will coordinate with the Educational Development Unit (EDU) of the Academy of Future Education to offer a series of TA training sessions to all incoming TAs. These sessions aim to equip students with essential teaching theories, methods, and practical skills. Upon completion of all training sessions, participants will receive a TA Training Certificate, enabling them to officially take on TA roles. This certificate can also enhance students’ future career development.
TA pay rates for Academic Year 2025-26:
Note: XJTLU full scholarship PhD students are required to fulfill TA duties as part of their scholarship conditions. TA work completed during the scholarship period will not be compensated.
