In September 2025, a visible?delegation from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) attended the International Congress of Physiological Sciences (ICPS-2025) held in the beautiful city of Hangzhou. This event brought together leading researchers, educators, and students from around the world to discuss the latest advancements in physiological sciences. The XJTLU group?was?comprised?of representatives from the?School of Science?includingProf. Allan Kalueff and Dr. Lee Wei Lim, a PhD student Mr. Longen Yeang, staff member Mr. Jiahao Cui, 3 Masters and 15 undergraduate students (photo), all eager to engage with the scientific community and expand their knowledge.
The conference featured a diverse range of sessions, including keynote speeches, panel discussions, and poster presentations. Renowned experts in the field shared their insights on various topics, such as cellular physiology, neurobiology, and the physiological responses to stress. Kalueff, Lim and Yang?actively participated in Stress physiology symposium as speakers,?contributing their expertise and engaging with fellow researchers. Other members of the team from XJTLU presented their research in a poster session, receiving positive feedback and constructive criticism from attendees. This experience not only enhanced their presentation skills but also allowed them to connect with other researchers interested in similar topics.
Students?from XJTLU were enthusiastic participants throughout the conference. They attended various sessions, gaining insights into cutting-edge research and methodologies in physiological sciences. The students particularly enjoyed interactive workshops that encouraged hands-on learning and critical thinking.?Additionally, the students had the chance to engage in discussions with international peers, broadening their perspectives and fostering a sense of global scientific community. The experience was invaluable, as it encouraged them to think critically about their studies and future research opportunities, and will contribute (as a scholarly activities) to bolster?their academic?CVs.
Beyond the academic pursuits, the visit to Hangzhou provided a rich cultural experience. The group explored local attractions, including the famous West Lake, where they enjoyed scenic views and learned about the region's history. The team?also had the opportunity to taste authentic Hangzhou cuisine, further enriching their experience.
