We are delighted to share that Dr Zuben Jin, Assistant Professor in the Department of Finance at IBSS, has recently published a paper in the Journal of Business Ethics (an FT50 journal).
The paper, titled “How Firms Adapt to Rising Temperatures: Evidence from U.S. Establishments”, provides large-sample evidence on how U.S. public firms adapt their operations in response to long-term climate change, particularly rising local temperatures. This research reveals a clear pattern: firms facing sustained increases in local temperatures tend to cut employment and shut down establishments in the affected areas. These decisions reflect a strategic reorganisation of their operational footprint in response to environmental stress.
This publication highlights Dr Jin’s commitment to advancing research at the intersection of behavioural finance and sustainability. The appearance of this paper in the Journal of Business Ethics further strengthens IBSS’s research profile in sustainability and responsible business, while contributing valuable insights to academics, policymakers, and industry leaders.
